Today was Joshua’s 11th birthday. I am certain I starred at him for 90% of the day. This wasn’t too difficult consider in the seven hours he spent building his Lego Technic Logging Truck.
In the role of Lego part-getter to the more official Lego-Builder, I watched him, thought about him, and dreamed of his future.
He wants to be a truck driver, NASCAR driver, farmer, inventor and baker. Baker is the most recent aspiration. He’s absent-minded, earnest, moody, kind hearted, athletic, disorganized, and a good friend. He prefers “real things over pretend things”, plays baseball and soccer, has one very best friend, and is a total homebody.
I love my two boys. And today’s milestone for Joshua gave me a beautiful, lazy day to watch him, think about him, chat with him and consider all the things that may come next in his life.
